What are people saying about Natural Earth Paint?

Comment from internationally known illustrator, Roberto Parada - "There is something quite beautiful about the art of making your own paint. Rembrandt, Velazquez, Titian all made their oil colors in their studio from pure pigment, derived of this good earth, with walnut oil… and those paintings have stood the test of time. Natural Earth Paint does the same. Real earth pigments that are safe and the purest color of this world. An artist should, at least once in their lives, try to work in the old traditions of pure earth pigment and walnut oil."

Wonderful non toxic experience

We are moving to working with non toxic and eco friendly paints and cleaners that I can use for myself and with my young children. These pigments are easy to mix, I used a different type of oil but the pigments work beautifully. I love the Evo Solve as well. Wish I had gotten the mixing chart so decided to get that after the fact - it’s useful even though I do have a decent understanding of colour mixing. It’s just a nice reference and a great tool to teach colour mixing to my children. With these pigments, we were able to get quite a beautiful range of colours.

still experimenting, but so much fun and excellent results!

I made my first batch of paint from Venetian Red and a bit of yellow ochre and was able to perfectly colour match Benjamin Moore's "Salsa Dancing", using the soy-based medium to blend it. I used that little pot of paint it to paint a pillar in my basement to match an existing accent wall. There was ZERO odour, and cleanup was super easy. I think I'm hooked. I went with the Natural Earth Pigments to see if I really could just leave petrochemical-based paint behind, and also find something that will breathe to put on my 1947 natural plaster walls (acrylic paint having peeled off in many places). I also wanted to be able to tweak the colour until I got just what I wanted, having many times brought home something from the store that just didn't look right once the whole room was painted. Next up: the flour-based wall paint recipe.

Mixed bag

Arrived quickly—thanks! It would be great to have a sturdier container than zip-lock bags. Also, the yellow that arrived is too dark to mix a bright green. I think you should include a light yellow with the starter kit.

Earth Paint

Hi there, I received my earth paint and the colors are definitely earthy and very strong. So far I have only used them for watercolor They are grainy, but beautiful. It is fun to have something different and pure.
