How Conventional Body Paints Can Be Harmful

Many conventional body paints contain harmful ingredients that can cause skin irritation, allergic reactions, and long-term health issues. These ingredients include:

Parabens

Parabens are synthetic preservatives commonly found in cosmetics and body paints. They can cause allergic reactions, and some studies in women have linked them to hormonal disruption and breast cancer.

Heavy Metals

Some body paints contain lead, cadmium, and other heavy metals that can be absorbed through the skin and cause health problems over time. Long to medium-term exposure to these metals can lead to developmental delays, organ damage, and even cancer.

Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen and can cause skin irritation and allergic reactions. Some body paints contain formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, which can be harmful to your health.

Petroleum-based Dyes

Petroleum-based dyes can cause skin irritation, and some studies have linked them to cancer. These dyes are not only harmful to your skin, but they also contribute to environmental pollution.

Speed Up Drying Time with Cornstarch

If you're in a hurry, dust cornstarch over wet face paint to accelerate the drying process. This simple trick can save you time and help you avoid smudging your design.

Mix Colors for a Wider Range

Expand your color palette by mixing different shades of paint together. For example, combine red and yellow to create orange, or mix blue and red for a beautiful purple hue. Experiment with various combinations to achieve the perfect colors for your artwork.

Darken Colors with Black or Violet

Use black or violet paint to darken other colors and add depth to your designs. This technique can help you create more realistic shadows and enhance the overall visual impact of your body painting.

Moisten Applicators Before Dipping in Paint

Before dipping your applicators in paint, moisten them with water. This will create a more fluid paint consistency, making it easier to apply and blend on the skin.

Body painting can involve the use of various types of body paints, including water-activated paints and cosmetic-grade colors.

2. How is body painting different from face painting?

3. Are Natural Earth Paint body paints safe for sensitive skin?

Yes, our body paints are made from natural ingredients and are free of toxins, making them safe for sensitive skin. However, if you have a history of allergic reactions to natural pigments or oils, we recommend doing a patch test before applying the paint to a larger area.

The longevity of body painting varies depending on factors like the type of paint used, the application technique, and the wearer's activities. Natural Earth face paints

I bought these for my son with sensitive skin, they went on beautifully, stayed on, and washed off really easily and he had no rash or anything. I was so happy to find non toxic paints that will last ages. Thanks again.

Happy to paint my kids faces

This went on smooth and creamy and also washed off reasonably easily. I was happy to paint my children's faces and not worry about what was in it. My one complaint is that it is quite pricey, especially when charged shipping ($17 for shipping to Canada seems a bit high).
Otherwise, great product, good colors...definitely earthy colors :)

Perfect for little ones

My daughter asked for makeup to paint her face. I wanted something that was natural and wouldn't irritate her face. She absolutely loves the paints and I'm happy that they don't contain any nasties.

Fantastic face paints!

This is the second time I’ve purchased a natural, non toxic face paint and I’m even more happy with this brand than I was with the first. The colours are great (the red is more terracotta red than bright red) and it goes on so smooth. The paint lasted on the faces really well and the brushes included in the set worked really well. I definitely recommend this set if you are looking for something fun to paint faces with without exposing your kids (or yourself) to toxins. The shipping was very prompt. I will definitely order from them again!

Great Product

My highly artistic 10 yr old made some fantastic faces on her siblings. The paint does look a little melty near the end of the day, but it performed well for most of the day. At least I know it is safe! We just won't put it on quite so early. I like also how the paints come in individual containers so they won't dry out, like they might otherwise if each paint shared a lid together. And yes, it came off without too much effort.
